VIC LEAGUE 1 MEN
Coaches: Chris Mitchell
The NWL Committee are excited to announce that Chris Mitchell (Chip) has signed on for another year as our head coach of the Men’s Vic League 1 teams.
Chip coached the men to some stellar wins in 2022 with a notable victory against one of the top teams in the league, positioning North West Lightning as a competitive opponent. Building team culture through 2022 was another huge asset Chip brought to the table, along with growing the squad for the 2023 season.
We’re looking forward to working with him again this year and building on the strong foundations set in
the 2022 season.
Training times: Tuesdays 6.30pm at the Bendigo Hockey Grounds
VIC LEAGUE 1 WOMEN
Coach: Lance Scholes
The NWL Committee is excited to announce the return of Lance Scholes to the club to take on the role as head coach for the NWL women’s teams!
Lance has amassed an incredible wealth of knowledge over his 45 year coaching journey. He is a known face around the club having previously coached our CV Blazers Men’s team, inaugural U16 Shield team and our U18 NWL JSC Boys team.
Lance is coming on board with a good understanding of the playing group having attended several matches last year so has seen what they achieved, and what they are capable of! He commenced coaching the teams on Tuesday 24th of January and is looking forward to challenge for the 2023 season.
We would like to thank Matine Rahmani and Mick Gulson for their contribution and commitment to growing the women’s squad to be at their best. Also a big thank you to Amanda Bicknell who has managed the Women’s teams for the last few years.

U16 BOYS & GIRLS
U16 Girls Shield B – Dale Boyd
Dale has a strong desire to develop the next generation of hockey players. Many of you will know Dale through his roles within the NWL Academy (coaching), JSC teams (coaching) and club hockey within Hockey Central Vic (player/coach) or the North Central HA (player). He has also coached at several Junior Country Champs. Dale was appointed coach of the 2020 NWL U16 Girls team and was keen to continue after lasts years limited opportunities. Dale will also support Matine and Mick in the ongoing development and maturing of the NWL Women’s program.
