North West Lightning is thrilled to announce that Chris “Chip” Mitchell will return as Head Coach of the Vic League 1 Men’s team for Season 2026. Joining him as Assistant Coach is Ross Evans, creating a powerhouse coaching partnership that brings exceptional experience, insight and passion to our club.

​

Chip’s leadership has already made a significant impact — in 2023 he guided the men’s squad to a series of outstanding victories, culminating in a grand final appearance. Recognised for his inspirational approach, Chip is dedicated to building a strong, positive team culture that drives success both on and off the field.

​

With the combined strengths of Mitchell and Evans, we’re excited to see this coaching duo lay the foundations for a strong and successful 2026 season.​​

Head Coach: Dale Boyd 

 

We are also excited to welcome back Dale Boyd as Head Coach for the upcoming season. Dale’s leadership, technical insight and calm, composed presence have been instrumental in the team’s growth and on-field success in recent years. His ability to develop players, refine team structures and build a cohesive playing group makes him an invaluable asset to North West Lightning.

Dale brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, coupled with a genuine passion for nurturing talent and strengthening club culture. We’re thrilled to have him back at the helm and look forward to the energy, expertise and direction he will bring to the season ahead.

We are pleased to confirm that four teams will be entered in the Junior HV competition for the 2026 season. Our junior coaching group is strongly committed to the development of the next generation of hockey players and eagerly anticipates the opportunities and challenges that 2026 will present.

Dee Munro coached the inaugural Under 14 Girls team in 2025, concluding the season with a silver medal. A former Australian representative, Dee brings extensive experience, high-performance insight, and a strong competitive focus to her coaching.

​

Ian Berry will return for his fourth season coaching the Junior NWL teams, having achieved a finals appearance in each of his previous campaigns. His measured and considered coaching approach has been instrumental in developing emerging players for senior competition.

​

North West Lightning is currently seeking expressions of interest for both Senior Reserves teams, the Under 14 Boys team, and the Under 16 Girls team. For further information, please contact Angela Poxon.
